Joanie's Wildflowers

Acrylics on Paper - 12" x 9" - by Kimberly English ©
My mother-in-law, Joanie, inspired this painting. She told me that she had found the wildflowers on the side of the road and transplanted them. After 30 years of growing and multiplying, there is a full hedgerow in front of her home of the orange wildflowers that appear every spring and summer. When they are all in full bloom, it is a delightful sight. I took many reference pictures to use for this painting and created the composition to represent her family: Each flower represents one of her children.
